This was just plain frustrating now, as she banged her head against what seemed to be an invisible wall at the edge of the forest, just as it was connecting to the grassline for the meadow. What the hell was she supposed to do? Just sit and wait to see when it would come down. She had been up just an hour after dawn this morning, intent on making it into the city and finding, hopefully, a decent place to have a sit-down meal. But no, instead she got the pleasure of running right into an invisible wall.
Yelling curses up at the heavens, she had been standing there for about two hours before giving up on it coming down anytime soon and had wandered back into the forest.
Stupid wind god-person-thing. Why can't I just live my own life...
She muttered to herself as she tromped through the snow, not caring about keeping quiet at all, was in too much of a foul mood to really care, heaven-forbid anyone cross her path and say the wrong thing then.
The need to kill time was upon her, a time she hated cause it just bored her to sit in one place, so instead she just kept walking. For the next two hours she got to know the lay of the land very well that was the border to the forest. And then as she started on her way back towards the tree she'd spent the night in, she saw a merry little band of hunters, very merry indeed due to the alcohol they had been consuming for the past hour.
Creeping along, a hand waving a bit as she softly chanted under her breath, finally bringing the hand down the front of her body as the cloack appeared once more about her form, though white this time to blend in with the snow.
These men didn't seem like ordinary hunters to her; they carried no traps, no bows with arrows, and were all bunched together. Maybe hunting for bears, but even so, that didn't sit right with her. If they were hunters, they certainly were not very good ones. It didn't seem like they had even caught anything all day, then again, but the sort of sickly and helpless look to them all, maybe they had never caught anything before.
The men actually spent the rest of the day entertaining her, while she watched them slowly march in a half-hazard line down along the edge of the forest, sobering up as the day went along and actually looking a bit alert. She stayed far enough away that they wouldn't hear her, but close enough that she could sort of watch their movements, the breeze carrying back their conversations.
"So you sure that guy last night was for real? He sounded pretty drunk."
"Yeah, he was for real. Said some bitch bested him at the tavern in Nefter last night. Even with him drunk, no woman should have been a match for him. She is definitely one of them witches."
Witches? Surely they couldn't be talking about that blonde chick from last night, though...really did sound like they were. A witch? Is that what magic users were considered in this time? Hopefully that dreadful practice of burning them at the stake wasn't still around.
Following them around got pretty boring, and it seemed the men were getting a bit bored with their search as well, considering they hadn't found anything. Everyone seemed to turn around and while the men went up onto the meadow to work their way back to the city of Taragos. Staying in the forest, she just kept moving along inside the first line of trees, keeping out of view.
Getting back to the path that led up from the forest to the city, the sun was lowering in the sky as she stepped to the border once more, looking out over the meadow. Leaning forward, she figured she would bump her head against the invisible wall that had been up all day, only to find herself stumbling forward as she tried to regain her balance.
Time to move on apparently.
She thought to herself as she stepped out onto the meadow, eyes catching upon the dark movements of bodies ahead, more in a semi-circle than just a band of hunters. And then there was the solitary figure in the midst of them all - the drifter! Now she was even more curious of how this woman manged to let herself get surrounded. Jasmin took off at a quick skip, watching as the men had all their attention on the other female as she got closer, one hand reaching back for her bow already and pulling it free, an arrow following that was pulled taut on the string and freed. Her marksmanship was unmatched due to her magic, and the point thrust into one of the men's bodies, right in the back near where his spleen would be.
A grin almost crossed her face as the men looked at the fallen one with dumb-founded looks. As another arrow was notched and freed to fly at another man who had turned to face her with his little sword, menacing looking, yes, but still a sword verse a bow? It wasn't a contest as the arrow landed with a squish sound into his left shoulder, followed by one more to his right thigh.
Her eyes looked up to see the other woman with that beautiful sword drawn, taking down the other men while Jasmin continued to skip into the area, sending arrows at any that the drifter was not getting. In mere minutes, the men were all on the ground, groaning and bleeding, and Jasmin kept skipping right past the area, stopping only to turn back with those bright blues looking at the woman.
"Shall we continue into the city together? I wish to talk with someone for a bit. I haven't met someone like you in a very long time, and I think it would prove interesting for the both of us."
